Broadcasting Hope: Why Sky Titan Supports PBS, KUTX, and Austin City Limits

When the Lights Go Out, Who Keeps the Stories Alive?

In 2021, a brutal Texas winter freeze swept through Austin.
Millions of dollars in equipment were destroyed at the newly rebuilt Austin PBS headquarters. Shows went dark. Gear was lost. Whole rooms of creative history—gone in the cold.

Sky Titan Media stepped in with a donation. Not for PR.
Not for press.
But because some things matter too much to lose.

That donation helped fund recovery efforts, and in return, PBS named an editing suite after Sky Titan (there's a picture of that below) a moment of honor we’ll never forget.

Why We Care About Austin PBS & KUTX

We’re an independent record label. A fashion brand. A creative community.  But more than anything, we’re people who appreciate growing up with:

  • Austin City Limits on TV

  • Daniel Tiger in the living room

  • KUTX spinning new artists into our ears

And now, as parents, creators, and community members—we know how fragile all that is.

"PBS Austin City Limits funding is on the chopping block."
"KUTX and KUT could lose $1.2 million annually."

Why Public Media Matters Now More Than Ever

We live in a world where:

  • Corporate media pushes algorithms over artistry

  • Local culture gets drowned out or paved over

  • Access to educational content is being stripped away

That’s why PBS Austin and KUTX are more than just stations.
They’re pillars.
They give us:

  • Independent music discovery

  • Unbiased journalism

  • Accessible, enriching content for kids and families

And they do it without ads, clickbait, or gatekeeping.

From Toddlers to Titans

So just a side note, as a parent our toddler doesn’t watch a lot of TV. But when we do, its things like Daniel Tiger, Sesame Street, and Mister Rogers reruns.

These aren’t just shows.
They’re stories that teach empathy, resilience, and imagination.

So yes, when we say we support PBS, it’s personal. (Speaking of toddlers, we also just released a line of kids sneakers too 😎)

What Sky Titan Does About It

We donate 5% of profits to nonprofits, and Austin PBS is one of them.
Not just because we believe in public broadcasting…
But because we believe in the public.

  • The musicians who need airtime.

  • The families who need access.

  • The kids who deserve better than whatever YouTube’s algorithm decides.
